RP was thrilled that Matt chose to join our team in 2023 because he brings a unique passion for designing nature into built environments as he enhances the function of outdoor spaces. He is driven to entice homeowners to come outside into the planned wild. While obtaining his Master of Architecture from the University of Kansas, Matt entered the university’s Studio 804, an Architectural Graduate Design Studio. This program culminated in a building project that became Passive House Certified and LEED platinum for its sustainable design and implementation. It was then that his interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and reuse of building materials was born. This led to a position as Construction Supervisor with Habitat For Humanity where he supervised a steady flow of volunteers and learned the value and strength of a community working together towards a common cause. “Working as a designer keeps me in touch with my love of art as it provides inspiration and new perspectives that I work to incorporate into all my designs to create an artful experience with everyone I work with.” He is ICPI certified for paver patio construction, and NCMA certified for segmental retaining wall construction. Matt is a dedicated family man who enjoys playing a variety of sports with his son and pretend with his young daughter before spending a quiet evening with his wife.
